I share this practice as a technique for locating one’s self, for self-healing and self-actualization, so that we may be better equipped to steward our bodies, communities and world while we’re here.

Over twenty years ago, I became interested in yoga and learned what I could from books before attending classes.  Practicing with others and my introduction to yoga philosophy is what led me to teach.

As a student, I’ve studied different styles and methodologies of yoga with teachers from an array of lineages from New York to Seattle. My own teaching style and philosophy is a mixed variety—practical, breath aware, expansive, reflective and nerdy.

As an instructor, I’ve taught and facilitated yoga by and for people of color, to young children in South Brooklyn, to elder folks in Manhattan, for adults living with Parkinson’s Disease, at the YMCA, in parks, in old churches, hospitals, corporate meeting rooms, community centers, yoga studios, gyms, garages and in my own apartment (I once lived in a yoga studio). I look forward to share practice with you as you are and wherever you may be.

I’ve been practicing since 1999 and teaching since 2004. I hold 200 RYT certificate from Samarya Center, but I don’t ascribe authority to the Yoga Alliance. I’ve completed a year-long training in Yoga Anatomy and Physiology from The Breathing Project 2009; and Sacred Shape Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training with Summer Quashie 2012, Sequences and Adjusting course with David Regelin 2017; continuing education on topics ranging from Sanskrit language with Manorama to modifications for scoliosis with Allison West.
